Our shopping never ends: Mumtaz Sorcar
Mumtaz , who headed a ramp walk, Shopper's Stop Sananda Pujor Bazar', organised by clothing store Shopper’s Stop at their South City Mall outlet as a promotional event for their latest western wear collection for the upcoming Durga Puja season, sizzled the floor.
Flaunting a black jumpsuit with matching eye wear and a glittery silver necklace, she walked and occasionally broke into a jig much to the delight of the onlookers.
Eight other models, six girls and two boys, also sashayed down the aisle, flaunting the latest western wear collection the shop will be offering from next week.
When asked whether her Puja shopping was over, Mumtaz said, “It’s far from over when it comes to shopping, for us women. Our shopping starts from first of January and continues till thirty-first December.”
About her special bond with Durga Puja, she said, “For me, the puja is very important because of two things. Firstly, Durga Pujo is one of the biggest festivals known to us and it defines our Bangaliana. Secondly, this is also the time when we feel ourselves the most. We tend to ape the Western culture throughout the year and the Durga Pujo helps to break this monotony.”
“The Pujo is very close to my heart as it is the only time my family and I get together. The rest of the year we are busy working and seldom get a chance to meet,” she said.
Sorcar added, “I look forward to it every year.”
The actress said, “The best part about the Pujo is that it makes us see and believe in things which are surreal and magical. It gives us that extra confidence to turn the impossible into possible.”
When asked about what she plans to don this puja, Mumtaz said, “I love wearing ethnic costumes during the Pujo. I have picked up quite a few clothes from Shopper’s Stop and would be wearing them this time.”
The event was choreographed and styled by couturier Anupam Chatterjee.
When asked about the new collection, Anupam told IBNS: “They have lovely clothes, lovely silhouettes, lovely colors. I have experimented with a lot of head gears this time. I have tried to focus on the garment and have used very less jewelry.”
“The whole look of the collection is very boho-chic,” added the designer.
