Motorola on Monday launched its thinnest smartphone yet, the motorola edge 70, positioning it as an ultra-slim device without compromises on performance, battery life, cameras, or durability.

Measuring just 5.99mm in thickness, the motorola edge 70 features an aircraft-grade aluminium frame and houses a 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, the largest in the ultra-thin segment in India. Motorola claims the device delivers up to 40 hours of battery life under standard usage. It supports 68W TurboPower fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and reverse charging.

The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, making it the world’s first ultra-thin phone to use the chipset. It runs Hello UI based on Android 16 and integrates moto ai 2.0, along with AI platforms including Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and Perplexity. Motorola has committed to three OS upgrades and four years of security updates.

In imaging, the motorola edge 70 features a triple 50MP AI camera system, including a 50MP OIS main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide and macro camera, and a 50MP front-facing camera. All three cameras support 4K video recording at 60fps, a capability exclusive to the India variant. The camera setup is enhanced with AI-powered features such as AI Video Enhancement, AI Action Shot, Adaptive Stabilisation, Group Shot, and Signature Style, alongside Google Photos AI tools.

The device sports a 6.7-inch Super HD 1.5K AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The display is Pantone and Pantone SkinTone validated and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. Audio is handled by Dolby Atmos-certified stereo speakers with Hi-Res Audio support.

Despite its slim design, the motorola edge 70 offers MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability and carries IP68 and IP69 ratings, providing protection against dust, high-pressure water jets, and submersion in water up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes.

Commenting on the launch, T.M. Narasimhan, Managing Director, Motorola India, said the edge 70 reflects the company’s focus on design-led innovation without sacrificing performance, durability, or intelligence.

The motorola edge 70 will be available in a single 8GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration and will be offered in three Pantone-curated colours — Bronze Green, Lily Pad, and Gadget Gray.

Sales will begin on December 23, 2025, via Flipkart, Motorola.in, and leading retail stores across India. The smartphone is priced at ₹29,999, with an introductory bank discount of ₹1,000, bringing the effective launch price to ₹28,999.
