International workshop on mobile journalism held in Kolkata's Loreto College

Kolkata/IBNS: An international workshop on MOJO (Mobile Journalism) was organised by the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication of Loreto College, Kolkata in collaboration with Indo Bangla Media Educators Network.

Rajib Nandy, Associate Professor in the Department of Communication and Journalism, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh was the resource person.

The workshop aimed to explain to the students the nuances and practicality of mobile journalism.

A lively interactive session combined with Nandy's fondness for Kolkata and the bubbling enthusiasm of the students, it turned out to be an extremely informative event focusing on mobile phones and pocket digital devices as a means of journalism, reporting, and editing.

A lot of important aspects were covered during the session, where the role of a journalist as an all-rounder was emphasized.

Further, the importance of maintaining an ethical aspect in reporting and a proper understanding of the intricacies of mobile journalism was also discussed.

MOJO is a unique trend in broadcast news that has gained increasing popularity and is now an indispensable aspect of journalism and mass Communication.

Due to the nature of this compact and convenient form of reporting, the ability to network and connect with the world with the click of a fingertip and from any corner of the globe has become a piece of cake.

However, it is important to remember that accountability, authenticity, and reliability are indispensable in this form of reporting.

The students learnt the importance of maintaining a fine balance between the Reel and Real Life. It was an enriching session for the students as they learnt the basic skills of MOJO and about the changing nature of journalism.
