Infosys Science Foundation hosts public lecture on Nanotechnology

Bangalore, Aug 14 (IBNS): The Infosys Science Foundation (ISF) in association with the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bangalore, on Thursday organized a lecture by Prof.V. Ramgopal Rao, Institute Chair Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering and Chief Investigator, Centre of Excellence in Nanoelectronics, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
The lecture on ‘Nanotechnology and Product Development: Opportunities and Challenges’ was delivered at the IIIT Bangalore campus was well attended by students and faculty members from various colleges in Bangalore.
 
The lecture by Prof. Rao is part of the Infosys Science Foundation Lectures by jurors and winners of the Infosys Prize, which has been developed with an aim to popularize science and research in the country. 
 
Prof. Rao, the winner of the Infosys Prize 2013 for Engineering and Computer Science, is one of the eminent speakers in the current years’ series of public talks organized by the Foundation.
 
The lecture highlighted clear insights into device-circuit interactions involving lateral asymmetric channel devices and FinFETs, which laid the foundation for power reduction in integrated circuits used in mobile phones. 
 
Prof. Rao’s research on drain-extended MOS (DeMOS) has enabled integration of high voltage and high frequency applications in standard CMOS.
 
Prof. Rao is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, of the Indian Academy of Sciences, and of the National Academy of Sciences. His research has led to multiple international patents that are used in the semiconductor industry, and in the formation of a start-up company, NanoSniff Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
