The fifth edition of SEMICON India will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2026, at Yashobhoomi (India International Convention and Expo Centre) in New Delhi, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) said on Tuesday.

Marking another significant milestone in India’s semiconductor journey, SEMICON India 2026 will bring together key stakeholders from across the global semiconductor ecosystem, including government and industry leaders, experts, academia, officials and students.

The event is being organised jointly by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and SEMI, the global industry association serving the semiconductor and electronics manufacturing sector.

The three-day SEMICON India 2026, themed “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem”, will be held from September 17 to 19 at Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, New Delhi.

India’s semiconductor ecosystem has gained significant momentum under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) through the Semicon India Programme. So far, 12 projects have been approved under Semicon 1.0, aimed at building a robust and resilient semiconductor ecosystem in the country.

The Union Cabinet has also approved the next phase, Semicon 2.0, to further accelerate the development of India’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Recognising semiconductors as a foundational industry, the government is supporting research, innovation and chip design by providing access to state-of-the-art design tools to more than 332 academic institutions and 105 start-ups.

Under the Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme, 24 start-ups have also been approved, enabling Indian innovators to develop critical semiconductor applications.

These initiatives are aimed at creating a robust and holistic semiconductor ecosystem in line with the government's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Announcing the programme for SEMICON India 2026 at a press conference in New Delhi, ISM, MeitY and SEMI said the event would further strengthen India's position in the global semiconductor landscape.

The conference will feature keynotes, panel discussions, fireside chats, international country roundtables and other programmes designed to promote dialogue and collaboration and accelerate semiconductor innovation and growth.

Key conference themes

The conference will cover a wide range of areas across the semiconductor and electronics ecosystem, including:

Manufacturing and Technology

AI and Digital Transformation

Supply Chain

Chemicals, Gases and Materials

Policy and Government Programmes

Sustainability and ESG

Product Creation and Design

Start-ups and Innovation

Talent and Skilling

India Brands and Market Development

Leadership and Strategic Forums

The event will also feature six international country roundtables, a dedicated session on women’s empowerment and leadership, and a workforce development session.

A special session titled “Stronger Together: Industry Associations Collaborating for India’s ESDM Growth” will also be held.

500+ exhibitors to participate

The SEMICON India 2026 exhibition is expected to feature more than 500 exhibitors representing the global semiconductor and electronics ecosystem.

Key highlights include:

500+ exhibitors

240+ international companies

150+ internationally renowned speakers

Delegations from 40+ countries

15,000+ square metres of exhibition space

Six country pavilions

10 state government pavilions

Start-up Pavilion and Innovation Showcase

Start-up Pitch Competition

Student Hackathon

Workforce Development Pavilion

S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, said the government had provided a clear indication of the importance of the semiconductor sector through its progressive policies and continued support.

“The sense of participation around the SEMICON India Conference and Exhibition has grown significantly each year. This year it is particularly significant for two reasons. Firstly, we are convening this event against the backdrop of the on-ground success of Semicon India Programme, with 03 of the 12 semiconductor projects approved under Semicon 1.0, having commenced commercial production,” he said.

He added that the announcement of Semicon 2.0, with its six major pillars, further strengthens India's commitment to building a robust and resilient semiconductor ecosystem.

Ajit Manocha, President and CEO of SEMI, said India was well positioned to emerge as a major semiconductor hub, backed by its speed, ambition, talent and long-term vision.

“India’s opportunity is not simply to join the global supply chain, but to become integral to it. That is the ambition SEMICON India 2026 exists to accelerate,” he said.
