IIT-Hyderabad invites applications for fully-paid Fellowship prog for 2019-20

Hyderabad, Mar 18 (UNI) Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Hyderabad Center for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE) invited applications for its fully-paid Fellowship programme for the year 2019-20.

The CfHE Fellowship program is dedicated to achieve universal healthcare solutions by igniting the spark of entrepreneurship and providing successful applicants with training and incubation opportunities. The last date to apply online at http:it.do/cfhe-application2019 is April 15, a IIT-Hyderabad statement here said on Monday.

Speaking about the importance of this program, Dr. Renu John, Co-Head of CfHE and Head, Department of Biomedical Engineering, IIT Hyderabad, said, “Fellowship in Healthcare Entrepreneurship is one of its kind in the country that focusses on promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Medical Devices and Healthcare.
We, at IIT Hyderabad have identified the strong need for developing a start-up healthcare Ecosystem in the country to address the problems faced by the medical community worldwide. The deep clinical immersions by our fellow teams to identify the clinical unmet needs in our country have taught us several lessons on understanding and addressing global healthcare needs from developed and other developing countries. This is a golden opportunity for a budding healthcare entrepreneur who is passionate about improving the lives of billions by creating an impact at grass root levels.”

The Fellowship program provides a stipend of Rs. 50,000 per month during the first year of training, which includes deep clinical immersions in private and public hospitals and exposure to the healthcare industry. Successful applicants will learn about the bio-design process from IIT Hyderabad academics and will be offered access to mentors, industry professionals, investors, and advisors. This full-time in-residence fellowship and training will be strongly hands-on. The Program follows a carefully structured and comprehensive package of curriculum, facilitating the entrepreneurs in taking their innovation from lab-prototype to commercialization through topics like compliance aspects, entrepreneurship development, Intellectual Property rights, markets and new ventures, Business models and business plan development.

The successful startups selected from this Fellowship program are given an opportunity to be incubated at CfHE Incubator with an incubation grant to establish their companies. The startups companies are offered access to state-of-art rapid 3-D prototyping facilities and infrastructure at IIT Hyderabad, medical device standards and compliance protocols, the statement added.
