Higher Secondary exam results declared

Kolkata, May 30 (IBNS): The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) on Friday declared the results of the Higher Secondary (HS) examination 2014.

The WBCHSE this year declared the results after 60 days from the completion of the theory tests of the higher secondary examination.

Announcing the results at a press conference here, WBCHSE president Mahua Das said, "This year the number of successful male candidates are more than the number of successful female candidates. Results are better than last 3 years. This year, the percentage of successful candidates is 78.42% (Boys-79.74% & Girls-77.17%)."

This year 7 lakh 77 thousand and 69 students appeared for the higher secondary examination and 5 lakh 97 thousand and 69 students of them were successful in the examination, Das noted.

Like the secondary examination, East Midnapore got the top position in the rate of success (88%).

Kolkata (86%) is in the second position and Howrah and Hooghly (83%) are jointly in the third positions.

The WBCHSE also published a merit list of top 10 positions.

Anirban Saha (478) of Raiganj Coronation High School and Sourav Pal (475) of Katwa Varati Bhawan have become first and second respectively in the higher secondary examination.

Paramesh Das (Bardhaman) and Swaptik Chakraborty (Chakda) jointly got the third position. They both have scored 474.

Mahua Das congratulated the successful students and also gave thanks to the examiners, employees of WBCHSE, all administrative departments of West Bengal government and media.

WBCHSE also announced the dates of the next year secondary examination.

It will start on Mar 13, 2015 and will end on Mar 30, 2015.
