If you want to romance a robot girlfriend just like Shahid Kapoor did in the  2024-released movie Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, then your wish can soon be fulfilled if you pay USD 175,000 to bring home 'Aria'.

Transcending the thin border between science fiction and reality, tech firm Realbotix recently unveiled its humanoid robot Aria which has expressions quite similar to real human beings.

The robot was showcased at the recently held 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Speaking on the purpose behind creating it, Realbotix's CEO Andrew Kiguel told Forbes its aim is to “create robots that are indistinguishable from humans.”

According to reports, the robots can be configured both as male and female.

“We think we have the most realistic robots in the world in terms of their appearance,” Andrew Kiguel said.

“There are two key things in robotics that are kind of like the nirvana. One is walking. We're going to let the big guys like Tesla work on that. But the other key piece is facial expressions, and so we're really keen on making robots that can create emotion, show you what they're feeling,” he added.

Kiguel said they are working to make robots so realistic in their appearance that they can even serve as romantic partners in future.

“It can be like a romantic partner. It remembers who you are. It can act as a boyfriend or girlfriend. If you ever saw that movie Her, we're trying to do that," he said.

However, he insisted that Aria is not a sex toy.

The robots range between USD 10,000 to  USD 175,000.

Several videos of the robot are currently trending on social media and X users have started sharing their varied emotions on the launch of such robots in society.

One social user said: "Current society has made people so lonely & stupid that within five years, a human will justify violently ending the life of another human for the love & respect of silicone."

Another wrote: "My next GF."

An X user called the launch of such a robot as 'madness'.
