Ad-hoc teachers warned Tripura education minister

Agartala, May 4 (UNI) All Tripura 10,323 ad-hoc pay Sikshak Karmachari Sanghatan, an association of 10,323 teachers warned of filing defamation suit against Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath for his alleged derogatory comments against them in media.

The appointment of 10,323 teachers was termed as illegal at high court and Supreme Court but the apex court allowed them to serve three years on ad-hoc basis until the required teachers are recruited.

Addressing a protest demonstration here last evening, the members of the association alleged that education minister Ratan Lal Nath had recently uttered that the 10,323 teachers were incapable of teaching in government schools but even then the state government fought for them in the Supreme Court.

They alleged the comments of education minister were extremely insulting and asked him to take back his words and said, “The education minister also labeled allegations that we do not concentrate on our classes. We remain absent in the schools.”

Nath is always considered to be a seasoned politician who speaks on facts but in this case does he have any proof? a member of the association Shyamal Kumar Dey said and added such comments are not welcome from a person holding such a prestigious portfolio in the state cabinet.

Dey also threatened him of legal actions unless the minister immediately takes back his words, otherwise, the consequences will be not good for anybody.
Citing the Supreme Court order, he said, the apex court had pointed out 129 loopholes in the appointment process of 10,323 but not in a single point, it underscored the issue of incompetence of the ill-fated teachers.

“Our present situation is nothing but a fall out of wrong policies. We are not policy makers, and hence we cannot be blamed for the consequences of wrong decisions," Dey added.
