New Delhi/IBNS: Three students have topped the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021, the national-level entrance exam for admission to undergraduate medical courses, scoring full marks.

The results of the exam were announced on Monday. Mrinal Kutteri of Telangana, Tanmay Gupta of Delhi and Karthika Nair of Maharashtra have scored 272/272, the merit list showed.

A total of 16,14,777 students applied for the exam this year, a 1.09 percent increase from 2020, the testing agency said.

Of them, 15,44,275 appeared for the exam and 8,70,074 have passed.

The minimum marks for qualifying, or NEET cut-offs, have gone down this year.

Originally, the entrance exam was scheduled for August 1 but postponed due to the second wave of COVID-19.

The exam was finally conducted on September 12.
