Delhi/IBNS: The schools in Delhi will remain closed until further notice amid a huge surge in Covid-19 cases, Chief Minister Avind Kejriwal said on Friday.

The national capital recorded over 7,000 coronavirus cases on Thursday.

While most of the classes have been suspended in Delhi, students from Class 9 to 12 were going to school if permitted by their parents due to their board exams.

Meanwhile, the CBSE has set the date for Class 10 examinations between May 4 and June 7 and Class 12 exams between May 4 and June 15.

Since October last year,  several states started reopening the schools partially but physical classes are again being cancelled in view of the massive surge in coronavirus cases.

On Friday, India recorded nearly 1.32 lakh new coronavirus infections and 780 deaths.

This is the biggest daily rise in fatalities reported since mid-October.
