W Midnapore health authority not to collect swab samples of migrants

Midnapore/UNI: The West Midnapore district health authority have decided to stop collecting swab samples of migratory labourers coming from other states in the last 5 days.

CMOH Girish Chandra Bera said this decision was taken in view of the large numbers of such specimen lying unexamined in Midnapore Medical College.

He said the number of corona affected persons has risen to 29. Out of 3941 specimen collected from Ghatal Subdivision, only about 1200 could be examined so far, he stated.

Meanwhile, trains carrying migratory labourers from Maharastra, Delhi, Gujarat and other places are being received in Kharagpore and Hizli stations.

Bera said some of the migratory labourers were consuming paracetamol type of medicine so that they are not caught on Thermal Testing reports and going back to their homes merrily.

He said from now all such migrants would be sent to Institutional quarantine in different school buildings.
