Guwahati, Nov 16 (IBNS) : In yet another incident of poaching that has assumed an alarming proportion in Assam, a one-horned rhino has been killed in the Kaziranga National Park, the famed world heritage site.

On Wednesday morning, forest guards  found the bullet-ridden carcass  of a male rhino inside the park.

An official of the national park said that the sound of firing was heard on Tuesday night.

This is the 16th rhino to have fallen prey to the bullets of poachers in the park this year.

The last time a rhino was killed inside the national park was only in October.

Meanwhile Assam forest minister Pramila Rani Brahma has ordered the forest officials to take stern action againstt poachers and take appropriate measures to protect wild animals across the state.

On Tuesday the Special Task Force (STF) had arrested a forest official and four poachers for being involved in poaching rhinos.
