New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday presided over a high level meeting to assess the preparation for vaccinations against Covid-19.

PM Modi took a note of the issues that should be kept in mind for vaccination of India’s vast and diverse population which includes smooth management of medical supply chains, prioritization of the vulnerable groups, coordination between different agencies involved in the process and the role of the private sector and civil society in this endeavor.

Prime Minister vocalized four guiding principles which is the foundation of this national endeavor: first vulnerable groups should be identified and vaccinated; second, vaccination of “anyone ,anywhere” should take place; third, vaccination must be affordable and universal; fourth, the entire process from production to vaccination should be monitored closely and supported with the use of technology.

PM directed officials to evaluate the available technology options to vaccinate in the most efficient and timely manner.

The current status of vaccine development efforts were also reviewed at the meeting. Prime Minister highlighted India’s commitment to play an enabling role in the vaccination efforts against Covid-19.
