India witnesses 55,000 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

New Delhi: India witnessed 55,000 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, as per Ministry of Health Family Welfare data released on Friday.

The total number of cases in the country is over 16 lakhs now.

It now stands at 16,38,871.

India also witnessed 779 deaths during the period.

The total number of deaths due to the disease is now 35747.

Currently, there are 545318 active cases in the country.

The number of active cases in the country is 1057805.
