India reports over 56,000 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, tally close to 20 lakh

New Delhi/IBNS: India reported over 56,000 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours between Wednesday and Thursday mornings, pushing the overall tally close to 20 lakh.

The South Asian country witnessed a big spike in cases by reporting 56,282 cases in the last 24 hours.

As per the Union Health Ministry's data, there are 5,95,501 active cases while 13,28,336 people have so far been discharged.

With 904 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Covid toll in the vast country now touched 40,699.
