India records 56,211 new COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours

New Delhi: Marking a slight dip in the daily case count, India recorded 56,211 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, as per Ministry of Health data released on Tuesday.

During the same period, 271 deaths due to the virus have been reported.

There are 5,40,720 active cases in the country at present.

The total death toll due to the virus now stands at 1,62,114.
