New Delhi/IBNS: India reported a slight dip in the Covid cases with 3.11 lakh fresh infections in the last 24 hours. With these, the overall caseload in the Asian country touched 2.46 crore.

A total of 4,077 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of fatalities to 2.7 lakh.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Delhi, 31,48,50,143 samples tested up to May 15.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a high-level meeting to review India's Covid situation.

He has suggested, "localised containment strategies are the need of the hour specially for states where TPR (test positivity rate) is high".

Meanwhile, the second batch of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine arrived in Hyderabad on Sunday.

In an attempt to curb the Covid spike, West Bengal on Saturday announced an almost lockdown in the state for the next 15 days.

The state recorded the highest daily Covid deaths on Saturday at 144.
