Ghana's COVID-19 cases exceed 11,000

Accra/Xinhua/UNI: The number the novel coronavirus infections in Ghana has increased to 11,118 with 262 new cases being confirmed as of Saturday morning, said the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

In its latest update, the GHS said a further 53 infected people under treatment recovered, increasing the number of recoveries to 3,979.

With the latest update, the number of active cases in Ghana stands at 7,091, while the number of deaths remains at 48. In all, 24 people are in severe and critical conditions in various health facilities, four of whom are on ventilators.

The World Health Organization has said Ghana was one of 10 main countries driving up the COVID-19 infection numbers in Africa.
