Covid: Death toll in Himachal Pradesh increases to five

Shimla/UNI: An elderly woman undergoing treatment of Covid 19 passed away at IGMC Shimla, confirmed a senior Medical Officer of Indra Gandhi Medical College(IGMC) Hospital Shimla on Monday.

Senior Medical Officer of IGMC Shimla Dr Janak Raj said that patient was receiving treatment at the hospital as she was suffering several complications apart from COVID-19 and she breathed her last on 2215 hrs on Sunday..

The patient had been referred to IGMC by the Bhota hospital, Hamirpur after deterioration in her condition, she had tested positive for Corona virus at IGMC two days ago.

Dr Janak confirmed that three people belonging to Mariana area of the district tested positive at IGMC and these people would be hospitalized shortly.

Deputy commissioner Shimla Amit Kashyap informed that these people had recently returned from Mumbai on May 18.

All them were in institutional quarantine at Deha since their arrival in Shimla. The Deputy Commissioner urged people that there is no need to panic as no person has came in contact with these people.

He said that total number of COVID-19 positive cases increased to five in Shimla district which includes one person each from Hamirpur (the deceased) and Mandi as both tested positive after coming to Shimla.
