Badaun/UNI: A COVID-19 positive youth, hailing from this Uttar Pradesh district, succumbed to the infection while receiving treatment in Bareilly.

The youth, who had tested positive for the novel coronavirus, had come to Badaun after running from a Delhi hospital. After registering a case against the youth under the Epidemic Act, the district administration had admitted him to a Bareilly hospital for treatment, two days ago.

However, the patient succumbed to the infection, late Tuesday night.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Yashpal Singh on Wednesday said that one more patient has died due to the infection in Bareilly.

The youth, who used to live in Delhi and was employed as a tailor, had tested positive for COVID-19. He first got admitted to a Delhi hospital and was later receiving treatment at a hospital in Ghaziabad.

However, the patient ran from the hospital upon getting a chance and came to Badaun to stay at her sister's house in Myaun.

The youth succumbed to the infection at the Ram Murti Medical College in Bareilly.

Now, the number of patients who have died due to the infection in the district has increased to two.

On the other hand, the samples of those who came in contact with the patient have been sent for testing.
