Thane/UNI: Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray on Sunday praised the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation(KDMC) for successfully curing a 106-year-old woman of COVID-19.

Expressing his joy, the Shiv Sena scion tweeted, "Welldone @1Rupeeclinic @ KDMC official and MP @ SEShinde. The blessings of (the lady) and many more like her keep us all going strong."

A resident of the Dombivili suburb here, the centenarian woman contracted the conatgion ten days ago. However, the hospitals denied her admission owing to her old age.

Subsequently, she was admitted to the Savlaram Krida Sankul COVID Hospital, which is jointly managed by the KDMC as well as the 1RupeeClinic project.

Finally, she walked out of the hospital today hale and hearty. "We are really thankful to the medical team at the hospital who took proper care of her and treated her successfully and brought her out of the pandemic," remarked her emotional daughter-in-law.

Reacting to the medical feat, Dr Rahul Ghule associated with 1RupeeClinic project commented, "We are happy that she has successfully responded to the treatment."

He further said, "Opened on July 27, this COVID Hospital has so far treated as many as 1,100 patients. It's state-of-the-art facility with oxygen and ICU beds."

In the KDMC limits, 5,451 cases, out of the total 38,301 caseload, are under medical supervision while 32,088 or 83.78 per cent are cured and 762 have died of the contagion till now, apprised civic body spokeswoman Madhuri Phopale.
