Greenpeace India awaits ruling on writ petition

India Blooms News Service | | 26 May 2015, 09:34 pm
New Delhi, May 26 IBNS): Lawyers acting on behalf of Greenpeace India presented a writ petition calling for the immediate unblocking of the organisation's bank accounts in the Delhi High court on Tuesday.

The judge postponed his ruling on whether Greenpeace India would be given temporary relief until Wednesday.

In court, the MHA repeated a previous allegation about Greenpeace’s domestic and FCRA accounts.

The Greenpeace has already addressed this allegation in its full response to the ministry’s show cause notice, and in a media briefing on the same.

“In order to keep the accounts absolutely clean, the transfers are first made out of the Indian funds. If any of the expenses incurred can be charged to our foreign accounts, we then make a reimbursement into the Indian accounts. This is in no way a violation of the FCRA,” it had stated.
