All efforts will be made for revival of ancient Saraswati River, says Uma Bharti

New Delhi, Aug 12 (IBNS): Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Uma Bharti on Tuesday said that the Centre is committed to the revival of the ancient Saraswati river.

She was replying to a Calling Attention motion in the Lok Sabha on the need to set up the Saraswati Research Institute.

The Minister said, there are enough scientific evidences on the presence of the river Saraswati in some parts of the country through which it flowed about five to six thousand years ago.

She said her Ministry is taking up the issue very seriously to trace the route of the river, which is now extinct.

Bharti said the government is having the information collected from all relevant sources about the river Sarswati.

She also informed the house that Central Ground Water Board of her Ministry has been directed to test the water of a well located inside Allahabad fort in this connection.
