Zomato to rebrand as Eternal Ltd, CEO announces expansion beyond food delivery
Mumbai: Zomato is set to rebrand itself as Eternal Ltd., as the company's board has approved the name change, CEO Deepinder Goyal revealed in a letter to shareholders.
Despite the corporate name change, the food delivery service will continue to be known as Zomato.
Goyal explained that the decision reflects a new chapter for the company as it ventures beyond food delivery.
He recalled that after acquiring Blinkit, the company began using “Eternal” internally to differentiate between the company and the brand/app.
Goyal expressed that with Blinkit now a significant part of their future, the time had come to publicly adopt the name change.
This shift in identity follows Zomato’s entry into the BSE Sensex on December 23, coinciding with the 17th anniversary of the company’s founding.
Goyal expressed pride in the achievement, describing it as both a moment of pride and reflection, bringing with it greater responsibility.
Under the new name, Eternal Ltd. will include four businesses: Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure.
Once shareholders approve the change, the company’s corporate website will move from zomato.com to eternal.com, and its stock ticker will transition from ZOMATO to ETERNAL.
Describing “Eternal” as a powerful yet daunting name, Goyal stated, “It is a tall order to live up to. Because ‘Eternal’ carries both a promise and a paradox. True permanence isn’t built on bold claims of invincibility or the swagger of success.”
He emphasized that the rebranding is more than just a name change—it’s a mission statement.
“A reminder etched into our identity that we will endure—not because we are here, but because we need to get there,” he concluded.
