'Still there': Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal clarifies after buzz over his future

Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has tried to dismiss speculations over his future in the company after its hostile takeover by Tesla and Space X boss Elon Musk in a $44 billion cash deal.

Responding to a tweet by a Twitter user that read, "I feel for the current ceo of Twitter (@paraga) - he had all these plans and now lives with the same uncertainty of his whole team", Agarwal said, "Thank you but don't feel for me. What matters most is the service and the people improving it."

Last night Agrawal had spoken about his vision for the company before he took over the company and lauded his colleagues who continue to work "with focus and urgency despite the noise".

"I took this job to change Twitter for the better, course correct where we need to, and strengthen the service. Proud of our people who continue to do the work with focus and urgency despite the noise," he tweeted.

A parody account named "not Parag Agrawal" responded with "I thought we were fired".

Agarwal then clarified that he and his team were still there.

"nope! we’re still here," Agrawal tweeted.

Shortly after, the takeover, former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said that he supported the development and Musk was the "singular solution" that he trusted to "take it back from Wall Street and the ad model".

"Elon’s goal of creating a platform that is “maximally trusted and broadly inclusive” is the right one. This is also @paraga’s goal, and why I chose him. Thank you both for getting the company out of an impossible situation. This is the right path...I believe it with all my heart," Dorsey tweeted.
