Starlink gets Aadhaar e-KYC nod for customer verification in India
New Delhi: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology on Wednesday announced that the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has onboarded Starlink Satellite Communication Pvt Ltd.
The approval will allow the global satellite internet provider to carry out Aadhaar-based authentication for verifying its customers in India.
According to the ministry, this step will facilitate paperless and secure customer onboarding in compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.
Aadhaar will make the process “smooth, secure and seamless,” it said in an official statement.
The ministry described the development as a “powerful synergy” between India’s digital identity framework and advanced satellite connectivity.
With Aadhaar e-KYC, Starlink will be able to swiftly onboard households, businesses and institutions as it expands high-speed satellite internet services across the country.
