Shipping Committee of BCC&I organises seminar on Maritime Infrastructure Developments
The conclave was organised to discuss the present status of the maritime infrastructure in east and north-east India, and project a growth plan for its economic development.
The participants also deliberated on how to increase domestic and international trade in the eastern and north-eastern region of India.
Suvendu Adhikari, Transport Minister of West Bengal was the chief guest.
“Government of India is making huge investments in the land-side infrastructure and inland waterways, which are expected to provide excellent connectivity in the near future, in the east and north east India. Hence it is an opportune time to simultaneously develop the maritime infrastructure in the region,” said S B Mazumder, Chairperson, Shipping Committee, The Bengal Chamber.
According to most speakers, the findings of the conclave can be an eye-opener for those in the Exim and domestic manufacturing industries, shipping and logistics players, supply chain companies, barge operators and manufacturers and real estate developers as it gave a clear picture of the present and future status of maritime infrastructure, in east and north-east India, and can help them to initiate new business projects for interested entrepreneurs.
