Sensex surges by over 900 points

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Monday rallied 953 points at 55,837.84 in the opening session as buying was seen across the board.

The Nifty too rose 280.05 points at 16,632.50.

The Sensex registered days high and low at 55,870.36 and 55,466.30 points respectively.

The Nifty registered days high and low at 16,638 and 16,506.15 points respectively.

The Mid cap moved up 1.87% and Small Cap by 1.97%.

In 30 scrips, 27 advanced while 3 declined.

The gainers were HCL Technology by 4.29% to Rs 1046.95, Titan by 3.99% to Rs 2234.75, Infosys by 3.96% to Rs 1518.70, Ultracemco by 3.04% to Rs 6140 and Tech Mahindra by 2.93% to Rs 1156.50.

The losers were Sun Pharma by 1.01% to Rs 1046.95, Dr Reddy's Lab by 0.65% to Rs 4363.45 and Kotak Bank by 0.29% to Rs 1940.85.
