Sensex hits fresh all time high, Nifty makes fresh peak

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex hit fresh all time high while Nifty too made a fresh peak on Thursday.

In the intraday trade, Sensex reached all-time high of 59,204.29 while Nifty made a fresh peak of 17,644.60.

At the close Sensex was 59,141.16, up 417.96 points or 0.71 per cent while Nifty 17,629.50, up 110.05 points or 0.63 per cent.

The Sensex, which opened at 58,881.04, registered days high and low at 59,204.29 and 58,700.50 pts respectively.

The Nifty, which opened at 17,539.20 recorded days high and low at 17,644.60 and 17,510.45 pts respectively.

In the intraday trade, small and mid caps also recorded highs. BSE Midcap and smallcap indices closed 0.48 per cent and 0.08 per cent higher, respectively.

Indusind Bank, ITC, SBI, Reliance, Kotak Mahendra were among the top gainers whereas TCS, Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, Bharti Airtel were among the top losers at BSE.

Nifty PSU Bank index jumped 130.95 points or 5.43 per cent, Nifty Private Bank Index was up 512.80 points or 2.67 per cent and Nifty Bank index increased by 816.35 points or 2.22 per cent.

Nifty Media Index was down 33.25 points or 1.71 per cent while Nifty Metal and IT indices were down 0,62 per cent.
