SBI chairman dismisses Manmohan Singh's allegation, says demonetisation won't affect economic growth
The former PM said that, while the economic situation has already become bad, “worse is yet to come”.
Inaugurating an SBI ATM at Gopal Krishna Tea Estate in Middle Assam’s Morigaon district, the SBI Chairman told media persons that, demonetization will not affect the economic growth.
She said that, maximum money has come back to the system and Rs 4 lakh crore to flow into the system within the month February next.
“SBI will revive growth for the next two to three months,” Bhattacharya said.
The SBI Chairman appealed all section of people to take part in the movement of digital economy.
As per the Assam government directives of covering every tea gardens located in the state, the country’s largest Bank SBI had opened an ATM at Gopal Krishna Tea Estate, near Jagiroad.
Arundhati Bhattacharya expressed her happiness to see the opening of an ATM at the Tea garden and said that will go a long way in providing cash less transaction among the tea garden workers.
Bhattacharya also described the importance of having bank account for all tea garden workers.
The SBI Chairman inaugurated the new ATM at the garden in presence of PVSLN Murty, Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, North Eastern Circle, Om Prakash Mishra, General Manager of the Bank, Jogesh Chandra Sahoo, Deputy General Manager of Guwahati Module, other senior functionaries of the Bank, office bearers of the NGOs, Management and Staff of the Garden and a large gathering of public at a function.
The premier bank also donated two school buses and other utility items to two NGOs Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam and Shishu Sarothi Spastic Society, Guwahati.
The cheques and the keys of the donated vehicles were handed over by the Chairman to Dr. Bibekananda Sarma, Secretary of Shishu Shiksha Samiti and Arman Ali, Executive Director of Shishu Sarothi Spastic Society.
The SBI Chairman also donated some medical equipment to Gopal Krishna Tea Garden Hospital for providing better medical facilities to the tea garden labourers and their family members.
