NSDC and Bird Academy collaborate to train 35,000 candidates in aviation

New Delhi, June 1 (IBNS): With a strong focus to enhance skills and create a market ready workforce in the Aviation & Aerospace Sector, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bird Academy to impart training to 35,000 candidates and set up Model Centers and CoEs across several locations across India.

The MoU was exchanged by Jayant Krishna, Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer, NSDC and Radha Bhatia, Secretary Bird Academy & Chairperson Bird Group in the presence of the Rajiv Nayan Choubey, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Over the duration of the MoU, NSDC and Bird Academy will support capacity building across states in Aviation, with a special focus on training 5,000 women and youth from the underprivileged section of the society.

Jayant Krishna, Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer, National Skill Development Corporation said that, “India is among the top five fastest-growing aviation markets globally and expected to become the third largest aviation market by 2020. To meet this high growth of passenger traffic in the aviation sector, a highly skilled manpower will be required. The MoU between NSDC and Bird Academy will assist the Skill India mission and go a long way in ensuring supply of such a pool of talent in the sector.”

Radha Bhatia, Secretary Bird Academy & Chairperson Bird Group said that “We recognize skill development as main focus to create a multi skilled efficient task force available for employment as part of our constant efforts in aviation industry. Bridging the critical gap between manpower availability, skilled for the specific job and employability has been a challenging task for Bird Academy. Lt Col Najam Rao, Head Bird Academy and his team is focused on and is striving to create the pool of skilled professionals for the Aviation sector."

Under this MoU, Bird Academy will establish Centre for Excellence/Model Centres in Chandigarh, Delhi, Cochin, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Goa and various other locations including the north-eastern region of the country. All the trainings will be aligned to the National Skills Qualification Framework.
