Nirmala Sitharaman announces Rs. 1.1 lakh crore loan guarantee scheme for COVID-19 affected sectors

New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday announced a Rs. 1.1 lakh crore loan guarantee scheme for COVID-19 affected sectors in a bid to tackle the ongoing crisis emerging in the country due to the pandemic.

"Rs. 50,000 crores coverage for health sector, aimed at upscaling medical infrastructure targeting underserved areas," Sitharaman said during a press conference here.

She announced Rs. 60,000 crores for other sectors.

She also announced a free tourist visa for 5,00,000 tourists.


" Once tourist visa issuance will resume, the first 5 lakh tourist visas to be issued will be totally free of charge," she said.

"One tourist can avail benefit only once," Sitharaman said.
