New Delhi fuel prices pick up, petrol retails at Rs 100.81

New Delhi/UNI: After remaining unchanged for a day, fuel prices witnessed a surge Saturday with petrol and diesel costing Rs 100.81/ litre and Rs 89.88 per litre respectively in the South Asian country's national capital.

This has been witnessed as the seventh hike of the month and 39th since May 4.

According to the state-run Indian Oil Corporation's website, in Delhi, the petrol price rose by 35 paise to cost Rs 100.81 per litre, while diesel price was elevated by 26 paise selling now at Rs 89.88 per litre, considered an all-time high.

The petrol price in Delhi was increased by Rs 8.41 in May and June. So far in this month, the petrol rate has been increased by Rs 2.10 and diesel by 72 paise/litre.

In Mumbai, the petrol price was raised by 34 paise to cost Rs 106.59 per litre, while the diesel price was hiked by 28 paise to Rs 97.46 per litre.

In Kolkata, petrol reached Rs 101.01 per litre with diesel being sold at a pocket-fury of Rs 92.97 per litre.

In Chennai, the cost of petrol rose by 30 paise to Rs 101.67 per litre and diesel by 24 paise to Rs 94.39 per litre.

Petrol-diesel prices are reviewed daily and changes are implemented, if any, with effect from 0600 hrs every day, said sources.
