Markets end in the red for the second successive session

Mumbai, Aug 17 (IBNS): Indian benchmark indices, which faced volatility on Wednesday, closed in the red, with Sensex down 59.24 points to 28005.37 and Nifty down 18.50 points to 8624.05.

According to media reports, the Indian market, like its global counterparts, too remained cautious on the news that an official of the US Federal Reserve  has said that interest rates could rise as early as September.

Some of the major  gainers were Coal India, Tata Steel, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and Axis Bank, while major losers included TCS, Adani Ports, Infosys, Wipro and PowerGrid.
