Maharashtra inks MoUs worth Rs 42,893 cr expected to create 28,558 jobs

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government on Tuesday signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) amounting to Rs 42,893 crore with multiple companies for projects in data centres and solar energy.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, speaking at the event, said the state is fast emerging as both the “data centre capital” and the “solar energy integration capital” of India, reported The Economic Times.

In total, eight MoUs for investments and two strategic agreements, including one with the UK to draw foreign capital, were signed.

The agreements are expected to generate 28,558 jobs.

“These investment commitments reflect the trust of investors and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Fadnavis said, assuring investors that the state government would extend complete support for smooth execution of projects.

He also highlighted renewed momentum for Maharashtra’s ambitious hyperloop project, which is now moving forward with the involvement of IIT Bombay and IIT Madras.

“This project will bring a transformative change in the fields of logistics, transportation, and mobility not only in Maharashtra, but across India,” he added.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, Jupiter International Ltd will invest Rs 10,900 crore in solar panel manufacturing, creating 8,308 jobs, while Rochak Systems Pvt Ltd will establish a data centre with an investment of Rs 2,508 crore, generating 1,000 jobs.

Rovison Tech Hub Pvt Ltd will set up a data centre worth Rs 2,564 crore, adding 1,100 jobs.

Wow Iron & Steel Pvt Ltd plans to invest Rs 4,300 crore in the steel industry, creating 1,500 jobs. Webmint Digital Pvt Ltd will invest Rs 4,846 crore in a data centre project generating 2,050 jobs, while Atlas Copco will infuse Rs 575 crore in industrial equipment, creating 3,400 jobs.

LNK Green Energy will invest Rs 4,700 crore in green energy projects, generating 2,500 jobs, and Prestige Estate Projects Ltd will invest Rs 12,500 crore across data centres, logistics, and real estate, generating 8,700 jobs.

A strategic agreement was also signed with the Global India Business Corridor to attract investments from the UK and Europe.

An MoU was inked with TUTRR Hyperloop Pvt Ltd to develop an advanced transport system at JNPT and Vadhavan Ports.
