New Delhi: The Rupee on Wednesday tumbled down 44 paise to close at 75.75 against the greenback on rising demand for US Dollar by bankers and importers, dealers at the Foreign Exchange said.

Surging 22 paise on Tuesday, the local unit fell 21 paise at 75.53 in early trade. During the day, it dropped 44 paise to close negative at 75.75 as compared to its previous close.

The Rupee slipped owing to firm dollar against other world currencies amid weak equity market.

The Rupee unit registered the day's high and low at 75.50 and 75.79 respectively against the US Dollar, a dealer said.
