Indian Market: Sensex opens in green, Nifty above 18,000

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE benchmark index, the Sensex and the NSE Nifty began trading with gains Monday.

At the opening trades, Sensex was at 60,922.96, up 236.27 or 0.39 per cent. Nifty 50 was at 18,191.30, up 88.55 points or 0.49 per cent.

Asian Paints. Kotak Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Maruti, Mahindra and Mahindra, Titan, ITC, IndusInd Bank, Sun Pharma were among top gainers at the BSE while Bharati Airtel and Tech Mahindra were among the top losers.

The Sensex had closed at 60,686.69, up 767.00 points or 1.28 per cent while Nifty 50 at 18,102.75, up 229.15 points or 1.28 per cent on Friday last week.
