Indian Market: Sensex ends at new peak at 43,637.98 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The equity market ended at a new peak at 43,637.98, advancing by 194.98 pts at the first day of Samvat 2077 at Muhurat Trading on Saturday.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too gained by 50.65 pts to 12,770.60.

The equity market was opened for one hour on Saturday for the auspicious "Muhurat Trading."

The sectoral indices that glittered were Oil and Gas, Telecom, Industrials and Energy stocks.

The Sensex registered intra days high and low at 43,830.93 and 43,535.77 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered intra days high and low at 12,828.70 and 12,749.45 respectively.

The Mid Cap moved up by 0.62 and Small Cup by 0.84 pc respectively.

In 30 scrips 22 advanced while 8 declined.

The gainers were Sun Pharma by 1.10 pc to Rs 514, Tata Steel by 0.98 pc to Rs 491.25, Infosys by 0.98 pc to Rs 1134.90, HDFC Bank by 0.86 pc to Rs 1370.75 and Bharti Airtel by 0.85 pc to Rs 479.90.

The losers were SBI by 0.68 pc to Rs 228, Bajaj Finance by 0.57 pc to Rs 4350, Titan by 0.42 pc to Rs 1283.15 and Indusind Bank by 0.33 pc to Rs 766.

There will be no trading on Monday for 'Diwali Pratipada', traders informed.

Similarly, the Foreign Market will also remain closed on Monday for the same, they added.
