Indian Market: Sensex down over 200 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday slipped by 269 pts to 49,867.06 in opening trade as selling was seen in Finance, IT, Bankex and Power stocks.

The Nifty too fell by 69.05 pts to 14,776.05.

The Sensex registered intra-day high and low at 50,050.32 and 49,678.63 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered intra-day high and low at 14,813.75 and 14,723.10 respectively.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.32 PC and Small Cap by 0.49 pc.

In 30 scrips 18 advanced while 12 declined.

The losers were HDFC Bank by 2.93 pc to Rs 1508.80, HDFC by 2.37 pc to Rs 2543, Powergrid by 1.67 pc to Rs 217.95, ICICI Bank by 1.39 pc to Rs 583.15 and Tech Mahindra by 1.08 pc to Rs 1005.75.

The gainers were Bajaj Finserv by 1.06 pc to Rs 9597.35, Axis Bank by 0.91 pc to Rs 701.95, M&M by 0.89 pc to Rs 802.05 and Bharti Airtel by 0.82 pc to Rs 525.70.
