Indian Market: Sensex advances over 100 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday gained by 178 pts at 58,842.54 in opening trade, as buying was seen across the board.

The Nifty too rose by 61.40 pts at 17,564.75.

The sensex registered days high and low at 58,873 and 58,564.75 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,572.35 and 17,485.05 pts.

In 30 scrips, 20 advanced while 10 declined.

The gainers were Bharti Airtel by 1.90 pc to Rs 773.90, Sun Pharma by 1.16 pc to Rs 793, Powergrid by 1.07 pc to Rs 204 and NTPC by 0.86 pc to Rs 134.65.

The losers were Bajaj Finserv by 0.79 pc to Rs 17,222.45, Asian Paints by 0.53 pc to Rs 3170, Maruti Suzuki by 0.46 pc to Rs 7814.30 and Infosys by 0.43 pc to Rs 1724.85.
