Meanwhile, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said that car sales went up 6.86 per cent to 2,08,656 units as against 1,95,259 units in September last year.
Top gainers on Monday included BHEL, Coal India, HUL, Tech Mahindra, Kotak Mahindra, Dr Reddy's Labs, Yes Bank and Adani Ports while ONGC, Gail, Aurobindo Pharma Reliance, Power Grid Corp, NTPC, BPCL, Bajaj Auto and Hero Motocorp declined.
