Chennai/UNI: Passenger car maker Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) today launched its 6-7 seater SUV Alcazar and is eyeing an elevation in its sales volume in the SUV segment.

HMIL Director, Marketing and Sales, Tarun Gard told reporters in a virtual interaction that about 45 per cent of the sales volume
was contributed by SUVs, that included Venue, Creta, Kona and Tucson.

“With the launch of Alcazar, the sales volume in the SUV segment is expected to go up further,” he added.

According to the company, it has a 25 per cent market share in the SUV segment and sold a total of 575,877 units (both domestic and exports) in the last fiscal.

HMIL MD and CEO S S Kim said, “This year we have embarked on a new journey as we complete 25 years of excellence in India."

“Hyundai has entered a new segment and we aim to redefine premium travel experiences for our customers across the country.

“Hyundai Alcazar will fortify our leadership position in the SUV segment and perfectly complement our line-up of VENUE, CRETA, KONA Electric and TUCSON,” he added.

“To further fortify our portfolio, we are now entering into a new segment of six and seven seater SUVs with the launch of the Alcazar,” Kim said.
