Flipkart to set up 4 new facilities in Maharashtra, 4,000 jobs to be created

The new facilities will be fulfillment and sortation centres.

They will be created in Bhiwandi and Nagpur aiming to support the local sellers and address the growing need for e-commerce activities.

In a statement, the company said the setting up of the new facilities will create 4,000 direct and indirect jobs.

"Fresh investments will help support the growing customer demand for e-commerce in the state while supporting the growing seller ecosystem and boosting the local economy," it said.

Flipkart already has 12 supply chain facilities in the state presently.

Commenting on the launch of the new facilities, Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Flipkart, said, "As a homegrown e-commerce company, we are continuously making deep investment in infrastructure and supply-chain in Maharashtra to support a robust ecosystem for local MSMEs, artisans, weavers and other under-served communities.

Welcoming the move, Maharashtra Industries Minister Subhash Desai tweeted, "Maharashtra is one of the most attractive investment destinations in India and @Flipkart’s recent investments are a welcome move, helping bring increased job opportunities and support for the sellers, MSMEs & artisan ecosystem.
