Century LED lights up Kolkata in association with the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation
Kolkata,Feb 9 (IBNS): Century, a leading lighting solution company, on Friday said has taken up an initiative to adorn the Book Fair and a metro corridor of the Salt Lake area with LED lights.
Around 520 LED lighting fixtures have been installed to transform this space.
The LED lighting industry has been undergoing robust development over the past few years and is now on the verge of replacing the conventional modes of illuminating a street or industrial area. This combines both efficiency and longevity.
The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, along with Century LED, had taken up this initiative ahead of the Kolkata Book Fair’2018. Reconstruction of roads and street lighting are parts of the Rs 2.58 crore project in the city, where the company has supplied the streetlights for the 2 km metro corridor between the JK Saha Bridge to City Centre, including Karunamoyee.
This metro stretch was cloaked in darkness ever since the Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation took up the East-West construction project six years back. Even during daytime, the overhead metro pass, in this stretch, casts a shadow and covers most of the road which has finally been lit up under this project.
The Company has installed 520LED fixtures in this area. This, in turn, will reduce excess energy consumption caused by conventional street lighting. Replacing traditional streetlights with LED lights, like MAGIK Orion 183, will considerably increase the longevity of these lights. This will not only benefit the people throughout the time span of the Fair but also will act as a permanent solution for the city dwellers. On the other hand, the Kolkata Book Fair, being an integral part of the city heritage, has been lit up beautifully with almost 520 LED Street Lights (Orion 183Watt) from Century LED to achieve the desired ambience with sustainable lighting option.
This is also a part of Century LED’s initiative on creating awareness on conservation of energy. On this account, Anirudh Kajaria, Business Head, Century LED Limited, said, “We are honoured to aid the community by participating in this Government initiative towards a more efficient city, in terms of beautification and conservation of energy simultaneously. In future, we wish to partner the Government for such initiatives to build a transformed society”.
