Blinkit launches 10-min ambulance service in Gurugram, plans nationwide expansion

Gurugram: In a major step towards enhancing urban emergency medical services, Blinkit has introduced a rapid-response ambulance service in Gurugram, aiming to deliver assistance within 10 minutes, CEO and co-founder Albinder Dhindsa announced on January 2.

"Ambulance in 10 minutes. We are taking our first step towards solving the problem of providing quick and reliable ambulance service in our cities. The first five ambulances will be on the road in Gurugram starting today. As we expand the service to more areas, you will start seeing an option to book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance through the @letsblinkit app," Dhindsa stated in a post.

Each ambulance is equipped with critical life-saving tools, including oxygen cylinders, Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), stretchers, monitors, suction machines, and emergency medications.

To ensure quality care, each vehicle is staffed by a trained paramedic, an assistant, and a professional driver.

The service operates on a not-for-profit model, making it affordable for users. Plans are underway to expand the initiative to major cities across the country over the next two years.

The announcement received widespread praise, including reactions from Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma and Nothing CEO Carl Pei.

Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal also acknowledged the initiative.

Dhindsa highlighted the critical role of public cooperation, urging people to give way to ambulances on roads.

"Timely access can save lives," he stressed.
