Assam Golden Pearl tea sold at Rs 99,999 per kg at GTAC

Guwahati: After the ‘Manohari Gold Tea’, another line of golden pearl, a speciality tea of Assam, was sold at a record price of Rs 99,999 per kilogram at Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC).

The speciality tea named ‘Nahorchukbari Golden Pearl’ was sold at Rs 99999 per kg through Parcon (India) Pvt. Ltd on Monday (February 14) in at Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC) sale number 7.

The golden pearl tea was purchased by a Guwahati based tea buyer Assam Tea Traders.

This is the first time that a Bought Leaf factory located in Lahowal near Dibrugarh Airport in Dibrugarh district has broke record.

The factory is owned by AFT Techno Trade which commenced in the year 2018 and the factory source green leaf come from local small tea growers of Nahorchok, Nudwa, Dikom and Ekoratoli areas in Dibrugarh district.

Earlier, ‘Manohari Gold Tea’ of Dibrigarh district had created history by breaking its own record of Manohari Gold Tea for Rs 99,999 per kg, in sale number 50 held at Guwahati Tea Auction Centre on December 14 last year.

Dinesh Bihani, Secretary of Guwahati Tea Auction Buyer’s Association (GTABA) told ANI that, a new history has been created at Guwahati Tea Auction Centre after a speciality tea produced from the green leaf of small tea growers was sold at a record price of Rs 99,999 per kg at Guwahati Tea Auction Centre on Monday (February 14).

“Earlier, on December 14 last year Manohari Gold Tea was sold at Rs 99,999 per kg at GTAC. We hope this attractive price will encourage all the small growers who are plucking very good fine leaf. It will fetch them lucrative prices. GTAC is a very good platform for quality tea producer and GTAC are always rewarded to the produces who produce good quality of tea,” Dinesh Bihani said.

Earlier in August 2019 the Golden Butterfly Tea of Dikom Tea Eastate was sold at Rs 75,000 through GTAC broker by J Thomas & Co Pvt Ltd at Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC) Sale no 33 and the tea was bought by one of the oldest tea shops in Guwahati M/S Assam Tea Traders for their customers.
