Arun Jaitley launches SMS Alert Service initiative by CBDT

New Delhi, Oct 24 (IBNS): Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley launched in New Delhi the-SMS Alert Service-initiative by CBDT to provide better tax-payer service on Monday.

The new step is an effort by the Income Tax Depart to directly communicate deposit of tax deducted, through SMS alert to salaried taxpayers.

The Ministry of Finance tweeted: "The initiative will initially benefit approx 2.5 crore salary cases which will soon be extended to another 4.4 crore non-salaried taxpayers."
