Amazon to lay off 9000 more employees in latest round of job cuts

E-commerce giant Amazon.com Inc Monday announced 9,000 more layoffs to make its operation lean and manage economic uncertainty.

This is a new round of job cuts and with this Amazon will have eliminated 27,000 positions in recent months or 9 per cent of its roughly 300,000-person corporate workforce.

The latest layoffs focus on Amazon's highly-profitable cloud and advertising divisions, media reports said.

Job reductions will also enter Amazon's streaming unit Twitch, as well, following cuts that began in November.

Amazon aims to finalize whom it will terminate by April.
