Colgate Dental Cream helps prevent cavities with Calci-lock protection

Mumbai, Apr 6 (IBNS): Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited, the market leader in Oral Care, reinforces the benefits of Calci-Lock protection in its flagship brand Colgate Dental Cream, which seals in natural calcium on the tooth surface.

alcium is one of the most important minerals in the body. It is vital for building stronger, denser bones early in life and keeping bones strong and healthy later in life.

Calcium also makes up almost 98% of enamel, which is the outer most layer of the tooth. Enamel is the hardest substance in the human body. To ensure good oral health, enamel needs to be protected from decay and damage.

However, enamel is under constant attack. Any food residue on the tooth surface leads to build up of germs which, in turn, form a sticky film on the tooth, called plaque. This results in the dissolution of calcium on the enamel surface, which is really, an early sign of a cavity. This process is called demineralization.

Once a cavity is formed, it can only be treated with professional intervention through cleaning of the cavity, filling the cavity with artificial material, or sometimes, even more invasive procedures like tooth extraction or root canal.

Hence, to prevent cavities, one must ensure that the enamel is protected by strengthening the calcium in the tooth. Colgate Dental Cream Calci-lock protection targets the weak, cavity prone spots and helps lock in natural calcium there, thereby re-mineralizing the tooth and preventing the formation of cavities. Calci-lock also makes the tooth stronger against further attack.

Explains eminent dentist Dr. Sandesh Mayekar, “Food particles that remain on the surface for a longtime eventually form plaque which attracts germs that multiply with time. When this occurs, the outermost layer of tooth dissolves and forms cavity. Protecting the outermost layer of tooth by preventing the loss of calcium is vital in avoiding cavities.”

Colgate Dental Cream Calci-Lock protection is available at retail stores across India in 15g, 25g, 50g, 100g, 150g, 200g and 300g packs. The re-launch is being supported by a fully integrated 360 degree marketing campaign encompassing TV, digital, retail and on-ground activities.
